LHRC researchers are supported by the National Institutes of Health to investigate the science of light and health. Using light to mitigate the hazards of falls among older adults is one of the applications we are exploring, focusing on factors such as:
Reducing sway
Improving postural stability, spatial orientation, and balance
Increasing gait velocity and reducing step length variability
Making nighttime navigation safer without compromising sleep
